Argentina may reduce the area under wheat in 2024/25 MY
Next season Argentine farmers will sow wheat on about 5.9 million hectares, which is almost 7% below the average for the last 5 years. This forecast was announced by analysts of the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
Experts record the late activation of the natural phenomenon El Niño, which caused heavy rains during March and April throughout the agricultural regions of the country.
“This situation may force agrarians to sow fields of grain mainly in the west of the country,” experts explain.
In addition, possible drought conditions may further negatively affect the pace of wheat sowing, which is due to start in the near future.
