In the Polish port of Gdynia, they see a prospect in increasing work with grain. An additional terminal for 2-3 million tons is planned to be built for transshipment of grain products.

This was announced during visits to Polish port cities as part of the Agro&Food Security Forum: Grains, Oilseeds, Pulses.

However, interest in grain crops is not due to the flow of Ukrainian agricultural products to European ports. According to the head of the commercial department of the Gdynia Port Administration, Yakub Kochar, they do not yet have an influx of Ukrainian grain. And the main reason, in his opinion, is the different width of the tracks.

For reference: of the 27 million tons that Gdynia transported last year, almost 5 million tons were grain. The key cultures that are traditionally used here are:

  • soy (42% last year);
  • wheat (43%);
  • corn.
