As of March 10, Ukrainian agricultural enterprises had sowed 16,100 hectares of grain and leguminous crops for the 2023 harvest.
This follows from a statement by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to the report, one region – the Odesa Region – has started sowing spring crops, while on the corresponding date last year, sowing did not start in Ukraine yet.
Thus, all categories of agricultural enterprises of the Odesa Region sowed 16,100 hectares of grain and leguminous crops, of which 6,700 hectares of spring wheat, 5,900 hectares of spring barley, and 3,500 hectares of peas.
At the same time, the projected area of sowing of the main spring crops for the 2023 harvest in the territory controlled by Ukraine is 5,700,100 hectares, which is 206,500 hectares less than last year.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2022, the production of grain crops in Ukraine decreased by 37% compared to the previous record figures of 2021 and amounted to about 53.9 million tons.
