After September 15, Poland will not allow the import of Ukrainian grain into the country
On September 15, the EU ban on imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine to Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary expires. This was reported by Polish Radio.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland Robert Telus emphasized that over the past six months, more than 7 million tons of grain from Ukraine have been exported in transit from Poland. According to the official, after September 15 this year, Poland is ready to help transport grain to other countries, however, Ukrainian grain will not be imported to Poland.
On Friday, September 8, at the border checkpoint in the village of Dolobychiv, the Minister of Agriculture said at a joint meeting with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki that in early 2023, grain imports from Ukraine across the border of five frontline countries, including Poland, amounted to about 3 million tons.
“In April, imports dropped to 2 million tons, but in May, July and June, this figure returned to 3 million tons. This indicates that Ukraine is exporting grain. In February, 114 thousand tons transited our borders. In March, the figure was 120 thousand tons, and in June it was over 260 thousand tons. This means that transit has more than doubled. Within six months, we exported more than 7 million tons of grain from Poland,” said Robert Telus.
