About a third of the profit is missed by Kazakhstan on the export of sunflower seeds
About 30% of the profit is missed by exporters of Kazakhstan, supplying sunflower seeds to China, Uzbekistan and other countries instead of oil and cake, the Ministry of Trade and Integration (MTI) of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
“The added value in the processing of sunflower seeds and the export of oil and cake can reach 25%-30%,” follows from the review “Prospects for increasing exports of higher value-added products” posted on the MTI website.
According to the document, one ton of seeds contains about 350 kg of oil and about 650 kg of cake and costs $470, while in the form of oil and cake – $583.
Delivery of a ton of products to Uzbekistan is $60, the import duty on sunflower oil in Uzbekistan is 0%, the document says.
Also, a ton of sunflower seeds on the domestic market costs $400.
