9 regions of Ukraine completed sowing of the early spring crops

Despite the hostilities and threats, the sowing campaign is going on in Ukraine. Vinnitsa, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Kirovograd, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil and Khmelnytsky regions have completely completed the sowing of spring crops of the early group. In general, almost 70% of the areas predicted for spring crops of the early group of areas have already been sown.

As of April 21, 2022, the projected area under the main spring crops for the harvest of 2022 in the territory controlled by Ukraine is 14,403.4 thousand hectares, which is 2,512.9 thousand hectares less than last year (16,916.3 thousand  ha).

According to the operational data of the structural divisions of the military administrations, the Donetsk and Lugansk military-civilian administrations, which ensure the performance of functions on agro-industrial development, sowing of spring crops is carried out in 23 regions of Ukraine, except for Luhansk, almost throughout the entire territory of which hostilities are taking place.

So all categories of farms sown (planted):

• spring wheat 164.4 thousand ha;
• spring barley 802.2 thousand ha;
• spring rapeseed 16.4 thousand ha;
• oats 127.4 thousand ha;
• peas 107.2 thousand hectares;
• buckwheat 1 thousand hectares;
• millet 4.8 thousand ha;
• corn 323.2 thousand ha;
• sugar beet 155.6 thousand ha;
• sunflower 896 thousand hectares;
• soybeans 62 thousand ha;
• potatoes 366.2 thousand hectares.

The first fertilization of winter crops with nitrogen mineral fertilizers has been completed at agricultural enterprises and the crops are being cared for.

Recall, according to the State Statistics Service, the sowing of winter crops for grain for the harvest of 2022 was carried out on an area of ​​7.6 million hectares, which is 0.3 million hectares less than in 2021, incl.

• 6.5 million hectares were sown with winter wheat and triticale, which is 0.3 million hectares less than in 2021,
• 109 thousand hectares were sown with rye, or 63 thousand hectares less,
• 969 million hectares were sown with barley, which is 163 thousand hectares less.

In addition, winter rapeseed was sown on an area of ​​1 million 414 thousand hectares, which is 442 thousand hectares more than in 2021.
