38 million tons of wheat could be exported by Russia in the 2021/22 season

In the latest report of the Ministry of Agriculture experts estimated the wheat harvest in Russia in the agricultural period 2021-22 at 81 million tons. A month earlier, the production forecast was higher by 0.5 million tons. At the same time, in the previous season, Russian farmers harvested wheat equal to 85.4 million tons. Recall, the 2019-20 figure was fixed at 73.6 million tons.

The initial stocks of wheat in the country in the period under review are estimated at 12.6 million tons, which is by 3.6 million tons higher than last season. Meanwhile, at the beginning of 2019-20, reserves were equal to 10 million tons.

The size of this year’s wheat supply is estimated at 93.9 million tons. The previous forecast was 0.4 million tons more. At the same time, last season’s figure exceeded the estimate for this year by 0.7 million tons.

Export shipments of wheat of Russian origin in the 2021-22 season will fall to 38.1 million tons compared to last year’s supply abroad (38.6 million tons), notes “KazakhZerno”. Meanwhile, a month earlier analysts’ expectations were even more modest by 0.8 million tons.

Wheat imports in the country in the year under review are projected at 0.3 million tons, as in the previous two seasons.

Consumption of the crop in the 2021-22 season is estimated at 43.4 million tons, the same as a year earlier. A month earlier, the forecast was 1 million tons higher.

Final stocks of this type of grain in the country in the current season could reach 12.3 million tons. Previous estimate was higher by 0.3 million tons. Recall, a year earlier carryover reserves amounted to 12.6 million tons.
