2023/24 Argentina Soybean Harvest Starting, Yields Generally Good

жнива

Rainfall over the weekend in Argentina favored generally central and east-central areas. The rains slowed the drydown of the crops in southern Santa Fe and Entre Rios. This week, the rain will favor northeastern Argentina with dryer conditions elsewhere in Argentina.

Soybeans in the northern core region are 4% harvested with yields ranging from 3,000 to 4,500 kg/ha (44.7 to 67 bu/ac). In the southern core area, the soybeans are 0.5% harvested with yields ranging from 3,700 to 5,200 kg/ha (55 to 77 bu/ac). There was some localized damage from hail, strong winds, and localized flooding two weeks ago, but it was confined to a relatively small area of eastern Argentina. The Argentina soybean estimate was left unchanged this week with a neutral bias.

Soybeans in Argentina were rated 21% poor/very poor, 50% fair, an 29% good/excellent as of late last week. The good/excellent percentage was down 2% compared to the prior week. The soil moisture for the soybeans was rated 26% short/very short and 74% favorable/optimum. The favorable/optimum percentage was down 4% from the prior week. Below is the Argentina soybean rating for March 26, 2024 from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
