Late season rains have helped some of the later maturing corn, but they came too late for the earlier maturing corn. Even though the corn yields are very disappointing, the corn appears to be outperforming the soybeans somewhat in Argentina.

Argentine farmers had harvested 12.7% of their corn as of late last week, which represented an advance of 2.3% for the week. In the core areas, the corn is 35-50% harvested with approximately 10% harvested in southern Argentina and 0% harvested in far northern Argentina.

The average yield thus far is 3,900 kg/ha (62.0 bu/ac), which is up 0.2 bu/ac from the prior week. Yields are highly variable even within a province.
