10 million tons of Ukrainian grain could be transshipped annually through the ports of the Baltic States and Poland, – Nauseda

After the development of port corridors in the Baltic Sea, it will be possible to transit about 10 million tons of Ukrainian grain annually from the Baltic States and Poland. This is reported by the Delfi portal.

According to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, although it is impossible to export as much grain through the ports of the Baltic States and Poland as Ukraine exports via the main transit routes, if this alternative route is well developed, the total contribution of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia can be significant.

“Yes, we cannot compete with the main channels of Ukrainian grain exports, but according to our calculations, subject to certain requirements, the transit of Ukrainian grain through the seaports of the Baltic States and Poland could reach 10 million tons per year. This would be an important part, an important support,” Nauseda said after the Three Seas Initiative summit in Bucharest.

He emphasized that EU countries should “do everything possible” to ensure that Ukrainian grain can enter international markets unhindered.
