1 million hectares of spring crops were sown in Ukraine

Ukrainian farmers of all categories of farms have already sown 1 million 5 thousand hectares of grains and pulses, of which:

  • spring wheat – 169.1 thousand ha;
  • spring barley – 557.4 thousand ha;
  • peas – 110.2 thousand ha;
  • oats – 81.7 thousand hectares;
  • corn – 53.4 thousand hectares;
  • buckwheat – 0.27 thousand ha;
  • millet – 1.7 thousand ha.

A total of 278,400 hectares of grains and pulses were sown last week, with 83,500 hectares being the leading agricultural producers of Poltava region. Wheat is sown the most in Dnipropetrovsk region (29.6 thousand ha), corn – in Sumy region (26.4 thousand ha), UkrAgroConsult reports with reference to Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Farmers of 10 regions began sowing sugar beets: Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Lviv, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, 54,400 hectares were sown.

Sunflower is sown by agrarians of Dnipropetrovsk region, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Kyiv region, Mykolaiv region, Odesa region, Poltava region, Rivne region, Sumy region, Ternopil region, Kharkiv region, Kherson region, Khmelnytskyi region, Chernivtsi region, Chernihiv region, sown – 137.3 thousand hectares. The largest area is in Sumy region – 34.7 thousand hectares.
